Wythogan park reopens

September 17, 2012

Knox Mayor Rick Chambers announced that Wythogan Park has reopened. The main part of the park is mostly clear of debris and the walking trail is open. However, visitors to the park should use caution as cleanup efforts continue and small piles of debris remain in some areas toward the back of the park. All trunks and large branches have been removed, however telltale signs remain where trees were uprooted along the main entry road to the park.
The park has been closed since late July when straight-line winds passed through the area that toppled large trees around the Starke County Courthouse, throughout the park, across the city of Knox, at the airport and caused extensive damage to the communications tower at the Starke County Sheriff's Department.
