Work to resume today at fire-damaged Bremen plant

BREMEN — The president and CEO of Charleston Corp in Bremen told reporters that the plant is expected to reopen today after a fire destroyed one of the six building in the complex and sent three employees to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

Multiple fire departments responded to a request for mutual aid after an explosion and fire rocked a warehouse at about 1:30 p.m. yesterday. Using fire department tanker trucks, the crews battled the fire for several hours.

Charleston Corp manufactures a variety of fiberglass components for the recreational vehicle, boating and other industries. About 200 employees work there and all were evacuated yesterday.
