Wawasee hands Rockies 1st regular-season loss since ‘07

September 25, 2010

PLYMOUTH — It’s been a while — two years to be exact.
Wawasee’s Warriors put an end to a remarkable streak for Plymouth’s Rockies Friday night with a 27-17 win at Plymouth. The last team to beat Plymouth in a regular-season game was NorthWood in the final game of the 2007 season. The last time the Rockies lost at home was to Rochester, in the second game of that same season.
It appeared that maybe the Rockies would be on their way to a third straight thrilling come-from-behind win, with Brock Smith playing Superman, but it was not to be.
“We didn’t play well enough. Wawasee played better than we did, they deserved to beat us,” said Plymouth coach John Barron. “You can’t keep playing with fire the way we have the last three weeks and it caught up to us tonight.”
