Water line, hydrant flushing begins this month

September 18, 2012

BREMEN — Bremen residents may notice discoloration in their water later this month as Bremen Water Department will be flushing lines and hydrants beginning the end of September.
Water customers should be aware that discoloration may occur as a result of disturbed debris and that if they do, the water, though not harmful, should not be consumed. Customers should run their water through their tap for 10 to 15 seconds at a full stream (until it runs “clear”) before using water for cleaning or consumption.
“The flushing process is done twice each year to clean out the system in order to offer better water quality,” explained Water and Street Department Superintendent Henry Aguayo. The process is expected to take about two weeks.
For more information, call the Bremen Water Department at 574-546-4324.
