Wakarusa offers 61st year of free fall fun
WAKARUSA — The 61st Annual Wakarusa Fall Party will be held Thursday, Oct. 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. around the Pumpkin Tree downtown. Traditional favorites free to the public include: the costume contest, cake walk and hayrides, paired with new games for the kiddies and cotton candy to make the evening fun for the whole family. Dr. Abel, founder of the party in 1951, will be serving free donuts and cider. Judged costume categories will be: animals, sports and service heroes, superhero and cartoon characters, movie/TV and pop singers, ghosts/witches ad all things scary, misc. and the 15 and older contest. If next Thursday offers inclement weather the party will be moved to the middle school gym. There is no school Friday, Oct. 19 for Wa-Nee students so the fun can last a little later for the kids.
