Wakarusa Council discusses Maple Syrup Festival

This spring will mark a milestone occasion for the legendary Wakarusa Maple Syrup Festival. To commemorate this achievement, the festival planning committee thought it would be ideal to add a third day to this year's event, a notion which was given a vote of approval by the Wakarusa Town Council during its Tuesday, January 14 session.
Maple Syrup Festival chairman Todd Scheets was present to address the council on the progress of recent meetings held by the committee, during which the suggestion of including Sunday, April 27 to the weekend's festivities might be worth considering. This year's event was already moved to the fourth weekend in April, to accommodate the Easter holiday, which is on the third Sunday of April.
"We thought that, in light of this being the 45th anniversary of the Maple Syrup Festival, we would try it once and see what happens," Scheets told the council.
