Wakarusa Artist opens exhibit in Michigan
WAKARUSA — Sculptor and painter Diane Overmyer’s works have been displayed at many locations and in more than 50 private collections.
One piece is displayed at the White House in Washington D.C. but the largest collection of the Wakarusa resident’s works (not in her possession) — some 40 landscape paintings — are being shown at The Box Factory for the Arts in Saint Joseph, Mich.
Overmyer, who said her favorite type of painting is plein-air painting — painting on location outdoors — led her to create (primarily in the last year) the oils based on scenes and locations from all over southwestern Michigan and northwestern Indiana. An opening reception was held Sept. 28 but fans of art can view her pieces at The Box Factory through Nov. 4.
The Box Factory for the Arts is located at 1101 Broad St., St. Joseph, Mich. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Events are free and open to they public.
