Volunteers to stuff stockings for troops

October 31, 2013

PLYMOUTH - Operation: Quiet Comfort OQC will be filling stockings for soldiers overseas on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. until late afternoon.

Jan Houin Board Member and Shipping Coordinator for OQC and her husband will open their doors to their home, 17671 13th Rd. in Plymouth. The organization will pack 800 Christmas Stockings for troops who will be spending the holidays far from family and friends.

All are welcome to join as there are jobs for all ages and abilities. The building is heated and air-conditioned allowing OQC to pack in rain or shine, hot or cold.

Donations must be made by Thursday, Oct. 31 but donations are accepted at any time. The cost to fill a soldier’s stocking is $10 which fills a stocking with an individually wrapped beef stick or beef jerky, individually wrapped granola bar or protein bar, a pair of white socks, a SPAWAR calling card and a letter or card specially written from a OQC member for the holidays.

Donations can be made through Pay Pal at admin@operationquietcomfort.com or by check mailed to Operation: Quiet Comfort, 307 Palmer Lane, McCormick SC 29835. Any questions can be directed to Jan Houin by email at jlhouin@hotmail.com or by calling 574-936-1424.
