by cheryl patrick leader staff writer Kathy Norem resigned her position as associate director of the Starke County Community Foundation last week. A decision Norem based on prioritizing. “With my many obligations and responsibilities, I felt I needed to evaluate the most critical priorities and focus my full time and attention where there was the most pressing need,” she said.
Norem is pleased with the many accomplishments that took place while she was affiliated with the organization. “During my time with the Starke County Community Foundation (SCCF) I was privileged to work with an excellent and committed community board. With the help and support of that board we were able to increase the amount of gifts substantially each year and 15 new permanently endowed funds were established by people from our community,” Norem said. A couple of the projects Norem saw established mean a lot her. “I am particularly proud of the work we were able to do with the establishment of the Starke County 4-H fund and the Legacy of Women fund. Norem was also pleased with the foundation’s choice of her successor. “I am pleased that Jane Hamblin has agreed to accept the role of Associate Director for the SCCF. Jane has a strong background in philanthropy and has a keen interest in reconnecting with her roots here in Starke County,” she said.
