PLYMOUTH — Plymouth Fire Department personnel had a long, cold battle with a house fire Friday.
Firemen received a call of smoke in a home and responded to 901 S. Mich-igan St. in Plymouth at approximately 11:08 a.m. Argos fire units were later called to assist and firemen were still on the scene past 3 p.m.
The fire was a difficult one to fight and was a fire of unknown origin.

“It moved very quickly and gave us a lot of problems,” said Plymouth Fire Chief Andy Metsker. “It was very odd that it moved that quickly, especially in someone’s home. You don’t see that very often.”
The building houses apartments at 901 S. Michigan and 109 Ewing St.
Both appeared to be a total loss. All residents escaped unharmed and no one was injured fighting the blaze; however one dog was said to have perished in the fire.
Street crews spread salt across Michigan Street late Friday afternoon in hopes of covering leftover water before it possibly turns to ice.
Metsker said that the fire would be under investigation, which had begun at press time.
