Bremen Council reorganizes for ’09 E-mail
Tuesday, 23 December 2008
By Holly Heller Staff Writer
BREMEN — In the final meeting of 2008, the Bremen Town Council met in a brief session Monday night.
Christmas wishes were exchanged and accolades were shared for a good year gone by.
“Thank you for a great 2008,” said Clerk-Treasurer Janet Anglemyer. “Every-body’s cooperation makes the job easier.”
Cooperation on behalf of all town departments during Sunday’s power outage was especially appreciated by the council members. Town Director of Operations Rich Martin gave kudos to NIPSCO for their quick response to a five-hour outage that affected the entire town.
“NIPSCO did a wonderful job coordinating with Tim (Montague) in getting the electricity back on. All the departments were working Sunday to get things done.”
In a reorganizational meeting following the regular session, the council elected Heath Thornton president for the coming year. Rick Graverson will serve as vice president. Chad Baker and Jim Leeper round out the council.
The council also approved a list of commission and board members. New faces included Bill Davis, who will serve a three-year term on the Bremen Redevelop-ment Authority, and Mike Venable, who will serve a two-year term on the Tree Committee. The Board of Zoning Appeals still needs one more member, who will serve a four-year term.
