By Carol Anders Staff Writer
ARGOS — Argos High School senior Alyssa Miller had to choose a project and work with a mentor to compete her requirements for one of her English classes. However, it is easy to see that teaming up with Kristi Nate, Plymouth Wesleyan Church preschool director, means much more than just fulfilling a requirement of investing 20 hours on a project.

Miller is enthusiastically helping to organize and complete a project called “Pennies for Heaven.”
Miller said, “Our projects are based on putting everything that we’ve learned into action-using life skills.”
This is actually the third year that the Wesleyan preschool has held the event. Nate said, “We ask the children to bring in pennies. The idea is to show children that no matter how big or how small your gift, when it is added to the gifts of others, it can multiply.”
Miller will be responsible for counting the pennies at the end of the project. They will then weigh the pennies before taking the donation to the Bread of Life at Care And Share of Marshall County.
Nate said, “The staff there can purchase food items from the food bank in South Bend to make the donation go further.”
After the food is compiled, Miller will then help the children weigh the food items to see how their gifts have increased.
