By Carol Anders Staff Writer PLYMOUTH — The final meeting of a committee of administrators, parents, teachers and other community stakeholders concerning the Strategic Plan for the Plymouth School system was held this week. This meeting was the last in a series of five held on various aspects of the plan.
Recommendations from the discussions will be forwarded to the Plymouth Community School Board for consideration as the board revises the current Strategic Plan. In the final session, participants were asked to identify the traits that they feel are most important for a PHS graduate to hold. It became clear at the end of the two-hour session that committee members not only expect academic success, but also good citizenship. The committee members completed written recommendation in a number of areas including achieving core competencies in basic skills of English, math, science, history, and economics and government; technology skills and the ability to effectively communicate. Other topics listed included global awareness, adaptive life-long learning, life skills, creative and critical problem solving, and a commitment to serve the community. The group was also specific in explaining its expectations for a graduate in terms of being grounded in strong, positive values such as respect, sacrifice, integrity, courage and re-sponsibility. Moderating the meetings was Plymouth Schools Su-perintendent Dan Tyree.
