By Carol Anders Staff Writer PLYMOUTH — The final two meetings of the Strategic Planning Committee for the Plymouth Schools will be held tonight and Dec. 8 in the PHS cafeteria. The focus of the series of meetings has been for the public to learn more about the Plymouth School system and provide suggestions as to what attendees would like to consider for the new Strategic Plan being formulated by the Plymouth School Board.
The first session provided an overview of some of the current programming in the system as well as changes that are being implemented. Ed Barlow, futurist, made a presentation during the second session concerning his insights into what \ the needs for more diversified education may be in the future. The third meeting featured Demographer Dr. Jerry McKibben. McKibben outlined how the population of the local area has changed in recent years and his thoughts on how to plan programming for the years to come. Handouts from the three previous meetings will be available for reference at the final sessions. At the meeting tonight, the group will be asked to make recommendations to the school board to use while creating the new Strategic Plan. Participants will be divided into small groups for communicating ideas that will be included in a comprehensive list at the end of the session. The Dec. 8 meeting topic will be the creation of a list of characteristics that all Plymouth High School graduates should possess. The meetings will be held in the Plymouth High School cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. and are open to the public.
