Nationally-recognized comedian returns to Bourbon Nov. 15 E-mail
Thursday, 13 November 2008
By  Angel Perkins Editor
A national comedy star that hails from Chicago will be visiting the Bourbon this Saturday at 9 p.m. at Journey's End. Jeremy Danley, a.k.a. 'The Mighty Jer-Dog" has been aired on “The Bob and Tom Show” and Sirius XM satellite radio and says he originally came from the small town of Colfax, Iowa where he says, "I spent the first 20 years of my life, until I realized I could actually leave."
He’s also been featured in Road Dogs, a documentary film about performing stand-up comedy in small towns and will be filming for his Grassroots Comedy Tour documentary in Bourbon with his friend, fellow comedian and co-star in the movie 'Road Dogs'- Josh Alton. Before launching his stand-up career on a full-time basis, the 33-year-old father held a variety of jobs such as convenience store clerk, telemarketer, pizza delivery driver and for 10 years (during the summers) even performed in comedy wild west shows at amusement parks like Six Flags and Paramount Parks.
"I've been fired from almost every job I've had (over 20 in all) due to my apparent lack of seriousness," he says. "When I'm not spending time with my family, my hobbies include joke writing, beer drinking, and hell-raising. Right now I make my living solely from performing stand-up comedy.  I put almost 60,000 miles a year on my car travelling the country (primarily the Midwest), playing comedy clubs, colleges, casinos, and headlining the Grassroots Comedy Tour."
"Jer-Dog" and his wife of nine years have a five year old son  he refers to as " The Mighty Jer-Pup." He also has a CD soon to be released nation-wide by Laughing Hyena Records——the same label that originally signed Jeff Foxworthy and Ron White.
"I just decided to do what I do best for a living- entertain alcoholics.  So far it's going good," he said. " I've performed in that (the Bourbon) area a few times, but it's been a couple of years since my last appearance and I've got a lot of new material.   The idea of the Grassroots Comedy Tour is to bring live comedy to places that don't normally have it as an entertainment option."
The comedian/"recording artist" is also working on a prank phone call CD. For more information or for tour dates visit the Web site at www.JerDogComedy.com . To learn more about Josh Alton   visit his Web site at www.joshaltoncomedy.com .
