PLYMOUTH — While many across the nation were making one decision, many across the area were gathering information to make another decision.

Many local residents  — almost 900 of them — decided to use Election Day as a way of learning about options and services for older adults as the Marshall County Council on Aging along with KL Benefits, Pilgrim Manor and Miller’s Merry Manor sponsored the first Marshall County Senior Expo.

"I’m just here checking out all the information,” said local resident Sharon Bailey who was enjoying breakfast as part of her day. “This is very impressive, very nice.”

Hundreds of people were in attendance at the LifePlex Gymnasium to see what local businesses had to offer and to hear speakers and entertainment as part of their Election Day.

“We’re just trying to get smart,” said Kathryn Anders with a smile. “This is really a nice set up, a very nice thing to do.”

“We wanted to get out and see what it was all about,” said Daisy Stoneburner. “I like to take my walk here (in the LifePlex). We’re learning something today.”

In addition to the multitude of businesses and services on display, those in attendance were able to take advantage of numerous free health screenings, flu shots and door prizes.

“We’re very glad this day is finally here,” said Jackie Wright, director of The Marshall County Council on Aging. “We’re very happy about the turn out. We had a great day and I think everybody is pretty pleased with the way things turned out.”
