Women of Starke County, Sept. 21 is Ladies Night Out... E-mail
Friday, 19 September 2008
By Cheryl Patrick Leader Staff Writer
Once again, it’s time for the women of Starke County to step out for an evening filled with laughter, entertainment, camaraderie, refreshments and loads of shopping — it’s the annual Ladies Night Out event and it will once again be held at the Knox Community Center on Sunday, Sept. 21, with doors opening at 5 p.m. CDT.
The event is sponsored by one of Starke County’s newest organizations: The Starke County Legacy of Women.
Admission to the event is just $8 and covers the night’s entertainment, vendor shopping, fellowship and refreshments. Admission tickets are also good for one door prize entry that can be used as an entry for  one of the more than 25 treat-laden vendor packages which will be raffled off during the course of the evening. With so many valuable door prizes being given away during the event, guests may also purchase additional door prize entries for $1 each or six for $5.
The Starke County Legacy of Women organization is a group dedicated to the empowerment of women throughout the county.
“Last year, several women began meeting to discuss issues as they relate to the women of Starke County.  Through these discussions, we began to recognize the need to assist, mentor, and educate women about the roles, relationships, responsibilities, and the critical importance we have in leadership activities and positions within our community.  With a fundamental vision in mind, several of these ladies opened their checkbooks and made the commitment to establish a permanently endowed fund whose sole and stated purpose would be designed to, “enhance the leadership capacity for women in Starke County,”  Kathy Norem said. Norem is a founding member of the legacy group.
Tickets may be purchased at The Leader, 15 N. Main St. Knox (574-772-2101), The Starke County Community Foundation, 1st Source Bank, Back to Basics, or at the door.
Ladies don’t miss your chance to attend the event of the year: Get your tickets now.
