By Angel Perkins Editor Primaries are over; you've listened to the candidates and conventions have been in full swing so now it's time to exercise your voting rights at the Bourbon Public Library. Area voters were asked to nominate their top choices for favorite adult and favorite childrens book of all time and thus far, the tallies have brought 16 titles in the running.
From now until Sept. 23, anyone can fill out a ballot at the front desk choosing from the finalist titles. The top four (of the eight in each category) will be determined and then another round of voting will take place until Oct. 2. The choices will then be whittled down to two titles in each category and the final voting process lasts until Nov. 4 when the top adult and top childrens books will be tabulated. During each voting period, voters will practice their skills by choosing only one title from the following: ADULTS: Gone With the Wind by M. Mitchell, Moby Dick by Herman Melville, The Runaway Jury by John Grisham, Murder on the Titanic by Jim Walker, Last of the Breed by Louis L'Amour, Ribbons of Years by Robin Lee Hatcher, Bad Ground by W. Dale Cramer and Twilight Eclipse and New Moon by Stephanie Myers; CHILDRENS: The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, Star Wars: Attack of the Clones by Patricia Wrede, Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein, Left Behind-The Kids: The Vanishings by Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim Lahaye, Nancy Drew: The Clue in the Old Stagecoach by Carolyne Keene, My Friend Flicka by Mary O'Hara, Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder, The Relatives Came by Cynthia Rylant. You don't have to be a library member to make your vote count within your community.
