By John K. Reed Correspondent PLYMOUTH — The saying goes, if something is too good to be true, then it most likely is. This was the case at a few booths at this year’s Blueberry Festival.
According to the Indiana State Police, Indiana State Troopers — along with Blueberry Festival security — responded to a call from a vendor, claiming that there were vendors selling counterfeit goods. Upon the ISP’s arrival, it was discovered that five booths were selling counterfeit purses, belts, pants, sunglasses and similar items with trademark labels at-tached to them. Hundreds of items bearing the designer labels of Prada, Louis Vuitton, Coach, Chanel and other high-end designers were confiscated. Sunglasses by these de-signers can sell for upwards of $400, while purses can sell for as much as $1,000. Seven individuals were arrested, ranging in age from 30 to 52 years old. Four of the suspects were from the Chicago area, while the others were from Joliet, Ill., Darien, Ill., and South Bend. The suspects were arrested and taken to the Marshall County Jail. Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter said, “We were very happy with the way everything turned out. Vendors were happy with the sales, as the crowd seemed to be up from past years.”
