Rock collection of a lifetime

PLYMOUTH — Riverside fifth grader Will Houser thinks his love of rock collecting started when he was about 5 years old; however, his mother, Erin, was able to find a picture of Will as he entered pre-school with a rock in his hand.
Houser’s impressive rock collection is currently on display in his brother Patrick’s classroom at Washington Elementary. Teacher Chris VanVactor, who also had Will as a student, has a special table set up for the display.
He said he started collecting when neighbors were finding geodes in their backyard and gave him some.
Will said, “What really motivated me this summer was collecting rocks at Lake Monroe.”

PLYMOUTH — For the second straight year, Zentis in Plymouth is making an outstanding donation to the Boys & Girls Club fundraising efforts.
During the Blueberry Festival, club members, staff and volunteers hope to sell the couple of thousand jars of imported jams that were brought in from Germany for the event.

According to CEO and General Manger of Zentis Norbert Weichele, the product is sold in every supermarket in Germany.
“It (jam) is so popular that we produce one million jars per day,” he said. “It is made from natural ingredients that taste much better and are better for you.”
Zentis had the jams delivered to their facility in Plymouth in July. The local plant produces fruit for products such as yogurts.
Weichele said donating to the Boys & Girls Club makes sense: “We don’t have anything like the club in Germany.”
“We pick and chose who we want to support,” Weichele said. “We really like the concept behind the Boys & Girls Club.”
Billie Treber, director of the Boys & Girls Club, said, “Year round people ask for the jams. We are very fortunate to have the support of a great company like Zentis.”
