Rock collection of a lifetime

PLYMOUTH — Riverside fifth grader Will Houser thinks his love of rock collecting started when he was about 5 years old; however, his mother, Erin, was able to find a picture of Will as he entered pre-school with a rock in his hand.
Houser’s impressive rock collection is currently on display in his brother Patrick’s classroom at Washington Elementary. Teacher Chris VanVactor, who also had Will as a student, has a special table set up for the display.
He said he started collecting when neighbors were finding geodes in their backyard and gave him some.
Will said, “What really motivated me this summer was collecting rocks at Lake Monroe.”

JoAnn Macy of Plymouth was thrilled when she learned her name was drawn in a raffle sponsored by the Marshall/Fulton Counties American Red Cross.
The prize was a Yamaha PW50 motorcycle. However, Macy said she mainly purchased five raffle tickets because she likes to support the Red Cross.

Macy doesn’t think she will get in much riding time since she has two granddaughters, Macy and McKenzie Goble, who will be eager for a chance to ride.
The raffle was only a part of the fundraising project to help the local offices of the Red Cross.
In another fund-raiser, on August 16, 24 bikes with 32 riders from C.J.Chrome left Plymouth and rode through Marshall and Fulton Counties. The ride ended at the Moose Lodge in Plymouth.
Activities at the Moose Lodge included a hog roast, raffles, and dancing to the band Category 5 from North Judson, Indiana.
Red Cross Director James Hale said they were able to raise $1.000, thanks in part to 17 sponsors and donations from participants. Hale said, “We are looking forward to next year. We would like to double the number of bikes and riders.”
