PLYMOUTH — Chasity Masterson would like to see every young person in the area in the alley – the bowling alley that is.
Masterson and those at Quick’s Lanes are working to revive what they perceive as a little lag in interest in the sport of bowling, and they feel that starts with the Saturday morning youth leagues at the alley.
“When we were younger we didn’t have all these things to do like kids do today,” said Masterson.

“We’ve split the season into halves to help out with people who might be involved doing other things too. We have a full first half, and end of the season party and then a second half of the season so you can bowl after your other sports season is over in the fall.”
Along with trying to make it easier to join a team the leagues are also looking for adults who could act as coaches for the leagues.
“In every sport your team has a coach, it’s how you learn and get better,” said Masterson. “We’re looking for older volunteers who are bowlers who would want to pass on some of that knowledge to younger players. We’d like to have a coach for every one of our teams.”
They also hope to find sponsors to send teams to tournaments if they so desire.
“We want kids involved, we want to get them active,” said Masterson. “This is a sport that you can enjoy for your whole life. I’m 29 and I’ve been bowling for 20 years.”
Masterson also likes the family aspect of the sport.
“It’s something you can do with the whole family that isn’t really expensive and everybody can have a good time,” she said. “I started because my grandparents bowled and it looked like a lot of fun. I’ve been at it ever since. I don’t know that I’m any good at it, but I have a lot of fun.”
Quick’s Lanes will be having sign ups for youth Saturday, Aug. 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Leagues are for kids beginning at age 6 with four different age groups.
For more information, call 574-935-3633. Those who might be interested in helping coach a team can contact Masterson at 574-952-4563.
