Feb. 8, 1942 - Aug. 12, 2008
    LEESBURG — Larry L. Summy, 66, of 4860 N. 175 E., Leesburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008 at 9:10 p.m. from complications of cancer at Kosciusko Community Hospital surrounded by family and friends. He was born Feb. 8, 1942 in Warsaw to Kenneth and Marie (Williamson) Summy. On July 16, 1969, he married Mary Ellen Wildman in Leesburg.
    A native of Bourbon until moving to Leesburg, he was a truck driver for Fairmont Homes and then Maple Leaf Farms, retiring in 2008. He was a member of the American Legion Post #424, Bourbon. He served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve. He was an award-winning professional shuffleboard player. Larry was an avid I.U. fan and supporter of his grandchildren’s activities.
    He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Summy of Leesburg; two daughters: Sara (Terry) Martin of Warsaw and Rachelle (Scott) Edwards of Apex, N.C.; two sons: Jim (Mindy) Coon of Columbia City and Michael (Christine) Coon of Warsaw; sister, Patty (Everett) Beagle of Bourbon; 11 grandchildren: Amanda (Chris) Martin, Alan Coon, Tara (Justin Miller) Martin, Tarissa Martin, Sterling Martin, Victoria Martin, Rachel Edwards, Mari Edwards, Corinne Coon, Olivia Coon and Ellis Coon; two great-grandchildren: Dallas and Danika Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
    Visitation is Friday, Aug. 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, Aug. 16 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Ron Horgan and Rita Price officiating.
    Burial will be at the Leesburg Cemetery at a later date.
