PLYMOUTH — For most it is a strange sight to see. Literally hundreds of children, lined up down the block from an elementary school hoping to get a shot.
That was the unlikely scene at Washington School in Plymouth last night as The Marshall County Health Department held its first H1N1 flu shot clinic. In spite of the large numbers that turned out and the trickle of vaccine into the county, the department didn’t have to turn anyone away. Everyone who came received an inoculation.

Marshall County Par 3 Challenge is open to all; deadline is approaching E-mail

PLYMOUTH — The annual Marshall County Par 3 Challenge will again be hosted by Plymouth Country Club with an afternoon and evening of golf, food, prizes and entertainment.

The Marshall County Par 3 Challenge will be Saturday, Aug. 16, with a 3 p.m. shotgun start. The tourney is a scramble format open to all. Four-person teams can be made up of any combination of men, women or youth. Each of Plymouth Country Club’s 18 holes will be turned into a par 3 for the annual challenge.

 

Golf will be followed by an appetizer buffet, prime rib dinner, silent auction and end with a DJ and dancing. The cost is $50 per person for golf and dinner, or $25 for dinner only. Entertainment is included in the price.

During the competition, all 18 holes offer a hole-in-one prize donated by local merchants: pizza a week for a year from Pizza Hut; $500 gift certificate from Yoder’s Sports Center; men’s or women’s Seiko watch from King’s Jewelers; $500 suit from Treat’s Menswear;  a new car, a vacation cruise, and set of irons, all from Oliver Ford; a one-year membership to the Plymouth Country Club; and $500 cash prizes from Ace Fitness, 1st Source Bank, Shamrock Homes, First Federal Savings Bank, Morrow Insurance, Lake City Bank, Aflac and Carlson Homes.

There are also proximity prizes on every hole, also donated by local merchants: Ponderosa, Bruno’s Pizza, Pizza Bill’s, Brass Rail, Fiesta Mexicana, Gray’s Diner and Papa John’s.
