Candidates for school board positions at the various schools in Marshall County will have from July 23 until Aug. 22 to file with the clerk’s office in order to get on the November ballot.
With the exception of the Argos School Corporation where board members are appointed rather than elected, Bremen, Culver, John Glenn, Plymouth and Triton will have vacant seats.

For Plymouth, the terms of Ronald Gifford, At-Large; Todd Samuelson, District 2-West Township; and Frank Brubaker, District 3-City will all expire on Dec. 31, 2008. Samuelson currently serves as board president. Brubaker is the vice-president and Gifford is the board secretary.
Triton will have two seats expiring at the end of the year. The seats held by Kris Glingle, At-Large, current president, and Richard Trowbridge, vice-president, District 3-Bourbon Township will be up for election.
Kris Glingle said "at this time I don't think I'll re-file." He said his other responsibilities with family and farming were where he needed to focus but added that it was possible he might change his mind. Dick Trowbridge replied when asked if he would run again for the board, "I can't answer that because I don't know myself. I'm just not sure."
Bremen terms that will be  expiring at the end of 2008 include those of Frank DeSantis, District III (in town); Tony Leeper, District I (outside of Bremen); and Becky Beron, District II (at large).
The Culver School Board has two member positions that expire at the end of 2008 and two that will end at the end of 2009. The terms of current President Ned Davis and member Eugene Baker will end on the last day of 2008. Davis serves as At-Large A and Baker represents District 5-Town of Culver. The terms of Jim Wentzel, District 1-Aub-beenaube Township and Edward Behnke, District  2-Union Township will end on Dec. 31, 2009.
John Glenn has the largest number of terms that will be expiring. They include the seats of Thomas  McCormick, Liberty Township; Lynnette Marek, Lincoln Township; Mike Daube, Johnson Township; and Curt Pletcher, Polk Township. McCormick is currently the board president.
Candidates for the Culver School Corporation positions need to file in Marshall County. The Culver system serves students from Marshall, Fulton, Starke and Pulaski Counties.
Triton candidates will also file in Marshall County. They serve students from both Marshall and Kosciusko Counties. Those seeking seats in the Bremen and Plymouth systems will also file in Marshall County.
John Glenn School Corporation includes students from Marshall, St. Joseph and LaPorte Counties. Candidates will need to file in the St. Joseph County clerk’s office.
