Monday, 21 July 2008
ARGOS — The Marshall County 4-H Fair officially kicked off Sunday with a host of activities including a church service, lawn tractor races, draft horse pull and the annual 4-H Fashion Review. All 32 10-year 4-H members were recognized in the arena and the Top Achievers were announced.
This year there were six candidates for the 2008 4-H Top Achievers. They included Olivia Eyrich, daughter of Doug and Barb Eyrich - Bourbon Township; Andrew Suseland, son of Robert and Nancy Suseland - Center Township; Kelsey Strahla, daughter of Noel and Sherry Strahla - Green Township; Amanda Ullery, daughter of Rick and Dawn Ullery - Center Township; Adam Davis, son of Michael and Sandra Davis - Green Township; and Samantha Dickeson, daughter of Don and Tammy Dickeson - Polk Township. At the conclusion of the introductions, Steve Benczik, president of the 4-H Council, announced Suseland and Strahla were this year’s 4-H Top Achievers.
The fairgrounds were busy Sunday evening with the first annual “Taste of Marshall County” which was a huge success. Several hundred people stood in line to get a sampling of duck, rabbit, bison and more.
Entertainment Sunday evening was provided by the Walnut Church of the Brethren choir.
The Marshall County 4-H Fair continues all week with a variety of events each day and evening (See complete schedule, Page B8 in today’s Pilot News).
