First H1N1 clinic moves smoothly
Image

PLYMOUTH — For most it is a strange sight to see. Literally hundreds of children, lined up down the block from an elementary school hoping to get a shot.
That was the unlikely scene at Washington School in Plymouth last night as The Marshall County Health Department held its first H1N1 flu shot clinic. In spite of the large numbers that turned out and the trickle of vaccine into the county, the department didn’t have to turn anyone away. Everyone who came received an inoculation.

Wrench General, YFC team up to send kids to camp E-mail
Monday, 14 July 2008
By Rusty Nixon Correspondent
PLYMOUTH — While the price of oil soars, Youth For Christ (YFC) and Wrench General are offering you a change this Saturday. For free.
The two have teamed up to offer free oil changes to area motorists this coming Saturday in order to raise money for YFC ministries and in particular to send kids to camp. All that is expected is a free-will donation.
“It was really kind of a natural fit,” said Bob Beck of YFC. “Ken Norris of Wrench General is on my board and they came up with this idea of helping us out.”
Motorists come in to the service center next to the Plymouth Airport. They get their oil change and windows washed inside and out. Whatever they donate for the service goes directly to YFC.
“They supply the labor and the oil, and we have kids washing windows,” said Beck. “We tried washing cars after the oil change but we couldn’t keep up with the volume and how fast people come in. Washing people’s window’s inside and out keeps everything moving without getting bottled up.”
All the work takes place this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wrench General’s location next to the airport.
“One-hundred percent of every donation goes directly to YFC,” said Beck. “We’ve done this several times, and we’re trying to set it up to do on a quarterly basis to let people plan their oil changes around our fundraiser.  We’ve had people that couldn’t pay anything and we’ve had people that were very generous.”
The event has been set up to help send YFC kids to Crooked Creek Camp located in Winter Park, Colo.
The event benefits YFC and proceeds will be used for its ministry and camp. Checks should be made out to Youth for Christ. For information, call 574-936-2325.
