By Carol Anders Staff Writer
PLYMOUTH — Riverside fifth grader Will Houser thinks his love of rock collecting started when he was about 5 years old; however, his mother, Erin, was able to find a picture of Will as he entered pre-school with a rock in his hand.
Houser’s impressive rock collection is currently on display in his brother Patrick’s classroom at Washington Elementary. Teacher Chris VanVactor, who also had Will as a student, has a special table set up for the display.
He said he started collecting when neighbors were finding geodes in their backyard and gave him some.
Will said, “What really motivated me this summer was collecting rocks at Lake Monroe.”

Fourth screen approved for Tri-Way E-mail
Wednesday, 09 July 2008
By Rusty Nixon Correspondent
PLYMOUTH — The Tri-Way Theatre will soon have even more movie selection for patrons.
Last night the Marshall County Board of Zoning Appeals approved a variance for the drive-in theatre to add a fourth screen, and more movies to choose from. Construction will begin on the new screen this year and will be in operation for next year.
Roy Roush, attorney for the theatre, and Dave Kinney, owner, answered questions from the board about the new addition. Some concern was raised since the fourth screen will be located near a wetlands.
Roush told the board that Tri-Way (named after the location of the facility between U.S. 6, U.S. 30 and U.S. 31) had applied for approval of the project with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. Further information on the project was asked for by IDEM and that was provided in December of last year. Current policy with IDEM is that if no further communication is received in 30 days the project is approved.
Kinney informed the board that the only concern was that elevation in the wetland would be changed, but all soil removed from the project will be taken away and not scattered, so no elevation increase in the area will occur.
Kinney also addressed traffic concerns with adding a fourth screen stating that the location of the screen would make it virtually invisible to those driving on nearby U.S. 31.
It was also pointed out that since the implementation of Eastern Daylight Savings Time for Indiana, attendance at the theatre was down 30 percent making for less traffic. The theatre also does not plan to add space for cars, but merely reconfigure current space that is not utilized for screens two and three.
The board unanimously approved the variance.
