By Sharon Hollar Correspondent Nathan Ludwig and Dan McPherson of Marshall County Junior Football League were present at the June 10 town council meeting. They informed the council of recent areas they began to clean up and measurements taken to determine the best solution for the concession stand at Heritage Park. They were given permission to remove the inside wall and rewire and look at adding a top area for scoreboard controls etc. Councilwoman Eileen Hall made the motion to donate $500 to the league to be used toward materials. They also discussed the idea of looking at a storage shed to house equipment. Council President Todd Slabaugh reminded them to be certain and check if a permit would be needed.
A residential property with an inside meter that seems to continue to show water usage, even though no one resides there, and uncooperative (approval) for entrance was under discussion. Some have inquired about a time for town-wide garage sales and the council decided to determine the second weekend in June be established for this. This will be the weekend of June 12 and 13 of 2009. No date or final arrangements have been established for the Fall Fest celebration this September as of yet. Garry Baker was present to clarify the use of the $600 he was told would be available for Remembrance Park at the May meeting. That motion would be amended to read: "for the use of flowers, mulch, fertilizer, weed killer and gasoline." Eileen Hall thanked the council, the town residents and attorney Jay Rigdon for all their assistance and guidance during the years she has served on the Etna Green Town Council. She expressed she hoped she had made a difference on decisions she made for the town. Although she will be relocating she will continue to be a familiar face in town since she will assume the utility clerk position as of June 12. She will also continue to be the town representative with the Indiana Municipal Power Association. Hall was presented a gift an card by president Slabaugh in appreciation of her years of service to the town. A letter was read from Patty Cook by president Slabaugh to have record in the minutes of her official resignation from utility clerk to devote more time to assisting her family. The next council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the town hall meeting room July 8.
