One dead in 2-car collision E-mail
Wednesday, 25 June 2008
PLYMOUTH — A 70-year-old man was ejected from his vehicle and died as a result of his injuries after a crash west of King Road on Lincoln Highway Monday.
Hearold Jackson, of Mentone, was driving a 2001 Ford Ranger pickup truck when it was reported by witnesses that 17-year-old Derek Tolson of Bourbon drove left of center and the two crashed nearly head on.
Tolson told police he had looked down at his stereo and then was struck by the airbag in his 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo. Jackson lost control of his truck, which flipped several times, ejecting him.
Tolson was transported to Saint Joseph Regional in Plymouth with a complaint of neck pain. He was treated and released. Jackson was taken from the scene then flown by Samaritan to South Bend where he later died of his injuries.
