Planning under way for Argos Days ’08 E-mail
Thursday, 19 June 2008

ARGOS – It will be a time of fun, food and family on July 4 as the town of Argos will celebrate Argos Days 2008.

There are many activities planned for the day with a little something for the whole family as the day starts with a parade through the city beginning at 10 a.m. that will be led by Grand Marshal Lida Norris. Line-up for the parade will start at 9:15 a.m. with the there being a salute to those in the military as well as saluting volunteer firemen and EMS.

Any veteran is welcome to walk or ride in the parade and floats or entries with any theme are welcome.

“Even if the kids want to ride their bikes they’re welcome,” said Elouise Good, one of the event’s organizers. “All they have to do is show up at the lineup or they can give us a call. We had over 90 units in the parade last year and we were very happy about that.”

After the parade, the action shifts to the fairgrounds.

“We have the Northern Indiana Pullers starting the tractor pull after the parade,” said Good. “They’ll keep going until they’re done with all they have planned.”

That won’t be all that’s going on at the fairgrounds either.

“We’ll have face painting and games for the kids and some food by the fairgrounds,” said Good. “The (Argos United) Methodist will have food for everybody. It’s just going to be a great day for the whole family to come down.”

Those interested in entering the parade can call Good at 574-892-5627 or Mary Correll at 574-892-9276.
