Plymouth board to meet Thursday E-mail
Monday, 16 June 2008
By Carol Anders Staff Writer
PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth School Board will hold a monthly meeting Thursday at 7 p.m. The meeting will be at the Administration Office Board Room on Berkley Street.
The agenda includes the consideration of a request from the Marshall County Blueberry Festival Committee for the use of the school’s facilities for a rain site and also for parking. This is a request that is brought forth every year in preparation for the Blueberry Festival that is held over the Labor Day weekend.
The board will also hear a report on standard based report cards. A revised report card for kindergarten students could replace the current report card used if the school board approves, according to Superintendent Dan Tyree.
It is expected that the board will set the textbook rental fees for the 2008-09 school year for grades 7-12.
A report on drug testing in the Plymouth School system is also listed on the agenda. Each year a report is received by the board on the results of the random drug testing that is administered throughout the school year.
The board will also review the contracts for administrators in the various school buildings, as well as the compensation for the superintendent.
The wording of an “acceptable use policy” is up for review by the board.  The policy concerns Internet and other electronic media usage.
Each year the board reviews a proposal for child care from a private company to provide care before and after regular school hours.
The details of a proposal will be considered at the  meeting.
