Thirty downtown businesses are taking part in a weekend full of events, including horse-drawn carriage rides Friday. In addition to the rides, carolers have been filling the Garro Street area downtown with music.

PHS names asst. superintendent E-mail

PLYMOUTH — By unanimous vote, Dr. Rodger Smith was named assistant superintendent for the Plymouth Community Schools. Smith was welcomed at the school board meeting last night.
Board member Ron Gifford said of Smith, “It’s a perfect match with his background in budgets and business.”
Larry Pinkerton, also on the Plymouth board, said he has known Smith for many years.
“He brings a wealth of knowledge,” Pinkerton said.
Smith’s experience includes the following positions: assistant principal, Brown County Junior/Senior High School; assistant principal, Delphi High School; research associate, IU/ Bloomington, North Central Association; Princi-pal, John Glenn High school; superintendent, John Glenn Schools; superintendent, East Noble Schools; executive director, Region and Service Center; and director of business, East Porter County School Corporation.
Smith and his wife Gayle reside at Bass Lake.
His brother Dale and wife Faye reside in Plymouth. Faye Smith is a teacher at Lincoln Junior High.
