Dispute over stop sign leads to barricades

Image

Barricades blocking off access to the shopping center on North Michigan Street from the Taco Bell parking lot will stay up-at least for now.
On Wednesday, Taco Bell Manager Marsha Humphrey placed the barriers between Taco Bell property and the adjoining property and parked her truck in front of them. Humphrey said, “I have contacted the city numerous times asking for a stop sign.”

Two injured in crash in Argos E-mail
Wednesday, 04 June 2008
By Ray Roth Correspondent
ARGOS — An Argos woman and her friend were injured Tuesday morning when their pick-up truck went through a stop sign at Juniper and 15th Roads before it was hit by another truck pulling a trailer filled with hogs.
It took rescue workers about 45 minutes to cut Joann Baumgart, 74, and 73-year-old Robert Thompson of Vallonia, Ind. from the vehicle after it flipped over on its side at the southeast corner of the intersection.
The driver of the other truck, 33-year-old Jeremy Houin, was not injured.  Houin told police that he was southbound on Juniper Road about 8:40 Tuesday morning when Thompson’s pick-up pulled into his path. The hog trailer also turned over, but only a few of the animals had minor injuries.
Thompson and Baumgart were being treated for what Indiana State Police believed to be non-life threatening injuries at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth.
Fire departments and paramedics from Argos and Plymouth were involved in the rescue and clean-up.
