Reed Correspondent LAKEVILLE — About 250 people gathered at Newton Park in Lakeville Saturday morning to raise money for Alzheimer Services. Participants collected donations, and took part in a Walk-a-Thon at the park.
According to Bill Jack, executive director of Alz-heimer Services, the service helps families in dealing with the disease. They provide monthly lunch and learns at the Senior Center on Harrison Street in Plymouth and also offer educational programs, professional education and quartly newsletters. Area businesses helped out by donating things such as bottled water, muffins, granola bars and other various foods to snack on. Businesses also donated items that were given away as door prizes. Clyde Carr and the Hymn-Tymers were on hand to provide entertainment. They are a bluegrass and country gospel band from the Indiana/Michigan area. The oldest members of the band have been together for more than 40 years. Anyone who has questions about Alzheimers are encouraged to call toll free, 1-888-303-0180.
