First H1N1 clinic moves smoothly

PLYMOUTH — For most it is a strange sight to see. Literally hundreds of children, lined up down the block from an elementary school hoping to get a shot.
That was the unlikely scene at Washington School in Plymouth last night as The Marshall County Health Department held its first H1N1 flu shot clinic. In spite of the large numbers that turned out and the trickle of vaccine into the county, the department didn’t have to turn anyone away. Everyone who came received an inoculation.

LAKEVILLE — About 250 people gathered at Newton Park in Lakeville Saturday morning to raise money for Alzheimer Services.
Participants collected donations, and took part in a Walk-a-Thon at the park.

According to Bill Jack, executive director of Alz-heimer Services, the service helps families in dealing with the disease. They provide monthly lunch and learns at the Senior Center on Harrison Street in Plymouth and also offer educational programs, professional education and quartly newsletters.
Area businesses helped out by donating things such as bottled water, muffins, granola bars and other various foods to snack on. Businesses also donated items that were given away as door prizes.
Clyde Carr and the Hymn-Tymers were on hand to provide entertainment. They are a bluegrass and country gospel band from the Indiana/Michigan area. The oldest members of the band have been together for more than 40 years.
Anyone who has questions about Alzheimers are encouraged to call toll free, 1-888-303-0180.
