Man’s body found behind NJ church E-mail
Friday, 16 May 2008
NORTH JUDSON — A North Judson man, Donald Minix, died from a massive loss of blood from a lacerated wrist, according to Starke County Coroner Kris Rannells.
Minix’s body was found behind the North Judson Methodist Church about 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 9. Rannells confirmed that Minix had died on Saturday, May 3, and his body remained undiscovered for almost a week.
Rannells said Town Utility Superintendent Dan Anderson and David Combs discovered the body when they went to investigate possible sewer problems at the church. “The body was in a real secluded area,” Rannells said.
The autopsy results are preliminary, and final results won’t be available for six to eight weeks, Rannells said. The autopsy was performed in Lafayette.
Rannells said that Minix’ death appears to be accidental. ‘There doesn’t appear to be any foul play.”
North Judson Police, Rannells, Prosecutor Julienne Havens, and  the Indiana State Police were involved with the investigation.
Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at Leisure Time Gospel Park in Medaryville. Burial was at Hoosier Cemetery in Akron.
Minix is survived by his mother, Helen Swigart of Knox, his son, Donald Lewis of Lafayette, five sisters and three brothers.
