Feb. 5, 1913 - May 4, 2008
    Mary Stephenson, 95, of Washington, Ind., formerly of Marshall County, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2008, at the Emerald House in Washington.
    Mary was born Feb. 5, 1913 in Marshall County to William and Edith (Gantz) Carl. She attended White Star District Number 1, a one-room school for eight years, then attended and graduated from Bourbon High School, Bourbon, in the Class of 1930. She entered nurse’s training at Epworth Hospital in South Bend in 1932, and graduated in 1935. She became a Registered Nurse that same year. She was employed at Plymouth Parkview Hospital in 1935.  After her marriage to Paul Stephenson on Aug. 21, 1937, Mary worked part time at both Plymouth and Rochester hospitals. In 1954 she started working on the medical floor at Plymouth Parkview Hospital retiring in 1978.
    Mary was a volunteer for 30 years for the American Red Cross. She was a member of Bethel Methodist Church and gave her life to God at the age of 14.  She joined the Inwood Methodist Church after her marriage to Paul. She had been a member of the Argos United Methodist Church since 1956 and had also been a member of the Hi Neighbor Club for the past 50 years.
    Mary is survived by son, Dale and Marguerite Stephenson of Elkhart; her daughter, Janet and John Wilkins of Washington, Ind.; her sister, Lois Edmonds of Argos; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Paul Stephenson and her sister AnnaBelle Eby.
    Services for Mary will be held Thursday, May 8, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Argos United Methodist Church, 540 N. Michigan St., Argos, with the Rev. Robert Vale officiating.  Burial will be in New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
    A time of visiting with the Stephenson family will be Thursday, May 8, 2008, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m., at the Argos United Methodist Church.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that in memorial contributions be given to the Argos United Methodist Church.
