Triton’s Schmucker signs with Ancilla volleyball program E-mail
Tuesday, 29 April 2008
BOURBON — Triton High School senior Tamra Schmucker recently signed her National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) letter of intent to play volleyball for Ancilla College. While at Ancilla, Schmucker plans on majoring in Business Administration.
The 5-foot-10 middle hitter was named to the Northern State Conference honorable mention all-conference team this season while leading Coach Gayle Perry’s 25-8 Trojans in kill efficiency (+.314) and kill percentage (37.8 percent) and compiling 141 kills on the season. Schmucker also led her team with 53 blocks.
When asked about what made Ancilla the right choice for her, proximity to home and the staff were her two main reasons.
“Tamra is a great kid and a great player,” said Ancilla coach Lauren Smith. “What’s so exciting is that her potential to be an even better volleyball player is unlimited. I’m thrilled to have her as part of the Ancilla volleyball program.”
Tamra is the daughter of Gary Schmucker of Etna Green.
