By Maggie Nixon Managing Editor MONTEREY — The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department took into custody another subject after learning he allegedly provided the weapon used in a shooting Sunday that left a Monterey woman dead. Thirty-five-year-old Denise Solano was killed in the driveway of her home by her husband Tomas Solano, 30. Police said they have been called to the Solano residence several times for domestic issues. But around 3:02 p.m. Sunday, officers learned that Denise Solano was deceased at her residence, 7025 Center St., Monterey. Fearing for the safety of others, officers launched a massive manhunt, and at 4:25 p.m., found Tomas Solano at the Greenwood Cemetery in Michigan City.
Police said he was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He has been hospitalized and is in critical condition at St. Anthony’s Hospital. Police learned that another subject, Timothy McCorkle, 43, of Ash Street in Monterey, is believed to have had full knowledge of Tomas Solano’s intent to kill his wife, and provided him with the weapon. McCorkle was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. The weapon was recovered, a .22 caliber rifle, in Tomas Solano’s car in Michigan City and is believed to be the weapon used in the murder and in the attempted suicide. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday morning. The Solanos had lived in the Monterey area for a number of years, moving last summer from a Lake Langebaum residence.
