GREENWOOD — The 2008 HickoryHusker.com Player of the Year Award has been awarded to Plymouth High School senior Randy Davis. The George K. Evans Award is presented each year by HickoryHusker.com to the senior basketball player in Indiana whose citizenship, skill, competitiveness and dedication to the game have helped make them a shining example of what Indiana high school basketball best exemplifies.
The 5-foot-11 Ball State-bound guard led Plymouth to a 17-3 record this year and enjoyed a career that included two trips to the state finals, including a state championship in 2007. The Player of the Year Award, established in 1995, is named in honor of longtime teacher and coach, George K. Evans. Evans, who taught English at both Chrisney and Bosse High Schools, passed away in 1981. Past winners include Eric Gordon, Luke Zeller, Katie Geralds, Chris Hill and Brody Boyd.
