By John K. Reed Correspondent PLYMOUTH — From mortgages and home improvements, to lawn furniture and bone density exams, business representatives from Marshall County and surrounding areas gathered this weekend for the Marshall County Builders Association’s Spring 2008 Home & Health Show. On Friday through Sunday, consumers and merchants met in the gym of the new Lifeplex. More than 45 vendors brought merchandise and services that they offer to this year’s show. “This year’s show was much better than last year’s. We haven’t even hit pool season, and we’ve sold three inground pools, one above ground, and have scheduled three renovations to existing pools,” said Bob Scarborough, representing A Splash Above, located in South Bend.
Marlene Murphy with Allied Banc was also happy with this year’s turnout. “It’s been really nice for us. We had to run back to the office for more supplies, before we ran out,” says Marlene. Megan Lebo was on hand to explain the benefits of cardiac calcium scoring, a new service offered by the LifePlex Diagnostic Center. “Cardiac calcium scoring is a preventative measure to find out how much calcium or plaque has formed in the coronary arteries,” explained Lebo. “After the exam, the patient is given a report that they may share with their physician for a complete understanding of the results,” she explains. Executive Officer of the Marshall County Builders Association, Janet Bixel, was very pleased with this year’s show. “Saturday was a little quiet most likely due to the Plymouth Pilgrims great basketball game,” says Bixel. “We hope everyone will catch us again next year. This was our first year incorporating health into the show, and we plan on expanding in that area next year,” she says. Those interested in being an exhibitor in next year’s show are encouraged to call Janet at 574-892-9009.
