By John Reed Correspondent ARGOS — Argos police, along with the assistance of Marshall County and Indiana State Police, searched the Argos schools after a bomb threat was received Monday afternoon. Students were evacuated a few minutes before school was to be let out for the day. According to Ryann Reed, who was picking a student up at the time, a police officer had driven through the parking and to the front door very quickly. She saw Principal Ron Liechty come out of the school, appearing in a hurry, carrying a hand-held radio. He then went back into the building. Allison Flower, a seventh grader at Argos Jr.-Sr. High explained what happened inside. “I was sitting in the library. I heard over the intercom that class was dismissed and that we had to leave immediately. As I was getting my books, the teachers were rushing the kids out of the school. They wouldn’t tell us what happened until we left the school. When we got on the bus, they said there was a bomb threat and that was all they knew.” Kosciusko County police assisted in the search using its bomb-sniffing dog, and no traces of a bomb were found. Due to the threat, Superintendent Barb Flory canceled Monday evening activities and there was a two-hour delay Tuesday morning. Another search was to be made during the two-hour delay for safety precautions.
