Kristi Houghton Joe Boetsma
Kristi Houghton Sept. 21, 1966 - Feb. 4, 2008 Kristi Lynn Houghton, 41, formerly of Plymouth, passed away on Feb. 4, 2008 in Saint Louis, Mo. She was born on Sept. 21, 1966. Kristi is survived by her sons, Billy and Kyle; her mother, Virginia Machlan of 404 N. Plum St., Apartment-A, Plymouth; her brothers: Shawn Houghton of Bloomington and John Machlan of Plymouth; and her sister, Carrie (Machlan) Martin of Plymouth. A memorial service was held on Feb. 12, 2008 in Saint Louis. Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison St., Plymouth, is handling the local arrangements. Joe Boetsma Jan. 28, 1921 - Feb. 17, 2008 Joe Boetsma, former Culver resident, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, entered eternity to be home with the Lord Sunday, Feb. 17. He lived with his wife, son and daughter-in-law in Gilbert, Ariz. He was born Jan. 28, 1921 to Joe and Dessie Warren Boetsma who have preceded him in death. He is survived by the love of his life, Thelma Harris Boetsma, who he married on Oct. 5, 1940. He was preceded in death by daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Clyde Craft. He is survived by children Larry (Anita) Boetsma, Debra (Allen) Mechling and Cynthia (Timothy) Decker. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Steven Boetsma and Erica Partin, Daniel, Stephanie and Isaac Mechling, and Caleb, Kyle, Kirsten and Colson Decker; and five great-grandchildren: Harry and Austin Partin, Sierra and Michael Boetsma, and Gavin Mechling. Joe worked in his family re-upholstery and then new furniture business in Culver for nearly 40 years. He and his wife of 67 years moved to Hobe Sound, Fla. in 1979. There he continued to work in a drapery business. He was a true craftsman when it came to making things for the home. They moved to Indianapolis in 1999 and went to Gilbert, Ariz. in December 2006. He was active in and supportive of his church wherever he lived. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, Feb. 24 from 3 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25 with visitation one hour before the service.
