INDIANAPOLIS — Bremen sophomore swimmer Betsy Bowen advanced to the second day of competition of the girls swimming state finals at the IUPUI Natatorium this weekend.
Bowen qualified for Saturday’s B final of both the 50 and 100 free races. She topped the eight-person 50 free B field to claim ninth place overall with a time of 24.43. She wound up seventh in the 100 free B final, clocking in at 53.53.
Plymouth’s Kenzie Miller finished 17th and 18th in the 100 backstroke and 200 IM respectively, making her an alternate for the B final of both races. She checked in at 59.19 in the backstroke and 2:11.46 in the 200 IM.
Miller and 200 medley relay teammates Liz Hoffer, Allyson Gergely and Lauren Overmyer missed the cut with a time of 1:55.25 Friday. Hoffer and Overmyer graduate from the school-record holding relay squad.
Bremen’s 400 free relay squad of Erica Laudeman, Alex Keller, Ashley Lafferty and Bowen wrapped up its season Friday as well, with a 29th-place time of 3:49.63.
