CULVER — The Culver Academies sent off 208 graduating students during commencement exercises Sunday morning. Under partly sunny skies that gave way to a steady rain toward the end of the ceremony at The Oval, Head of Schools John Buxton paid tribute to the class of 2007. “You will always be the class that met and exceeded our unrealistic expectations,” Buxton said. “There’s so much about the class of 2007 that we will always hold in our minds. “We send heartfelt thanks for all you’ve done,” he added. “You’ve learned all we could hope to teach you.” Buxton, who called the class “smart, talented and diverse” sprinkled his speech with witty references to popular culture, as well as the school’s recent activities. “You had little time to be American idlers,” he said. “Your year was one of recognition. You broke ground for a stable future. You skated through the competition.” Culver Legion President Jud Q. Little, class of 1965, greeted each student upon passing under the arch as a graduate.
