Decath team headed for state E-mail

NORTH JUDSON — The North Judson-San Pierre Academic Decathlon team will be heading to state for the fourth year in a row. The team competed at Kankakee Valley High School on Saturday, where they finished with an overall score of 29, 231. This earned the Bluejays the area championship and a seventh place state ranking.
The students answered questions on the Civil War which earned them a first place in the area academic conference decathlon. The team took second place on the oral super quiz and third in the overall super quiz.

Individual medalists: Holly Buckman with gold in art, silver in speech, mathematics and language and literature and bronze in interview; Noah Nunez-Gross with gold in music, silver in art and economics and bronze in essay and speech; Aerika West with silver in science and language and literature and bronze in interview and economics; Alexan Sukta with gold in interview, silver in speech and bronze in essay and music; Scott Patterson with silver in music and bronze in science; Allison Hughes with silver in essay, mathematics and music and a bronze in science and economics; Amanda Mullner with gold in mathematics and Jennifer Atkinson with gold in art, language and literature, silver in science and music and bronze in economics.
Holly Buckman placed second overall in the honors division; Joshua Bolen placed third overall in the honors division; Aerika West placed second overall in the scholastic division and Jennifer Atkinson placed second overall in the varsity division. Holly Buckman led the team in points with 5,628.
