Workers from ServePro, Ray Goranson (back) and Mike Padorke clean out the basement at the Boys & Girls Club of Marshall County. The club will be temporarily located at Washington Elementary School while flood clean-up continues. Pilot PhotoRusty Nixon By Rusty Nixon Correspondent PLYMOUTH — The Marshall County Boys & Girls Club will open again Monday, but not at home, following flooding last week which closed the club. The club will again provide services for the area’s kids at Washington School in Plymouth starting Monday. The basketball program will also resume with games only on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The school will provide transportation to Washington with the club picking up junior high members in its own van. Meanwhile workers continue to work on the club’s home facility trying to get it ready to reopen. “The insurance adjustor was in today and told us that we had 65 inches of water, which is a lot worse than any of us thought,” said Billie Treber, director of the Boys and Girls Club. “That means that it got to all our electrical panels.” The damage also extended to the heating system. “Both our furnaces in the basement were destroyed and the water got high enough to get into the ductwork,” said Treber. “We do have some heating upstairs and we’ll be able to turn that on and get a little heat. We have to have electric back first and we’re working on that right now. Hopefully we’ll have that back on by Friday.” Servepro began work on cleanup and mold mitigation for the facility on Wednesday as well. “They have to clean everything up and then there’s a solution they apply to everything to take care of mold,” said Treber. “The staff worked very hard the past few days to get everything out of the basement to help with that process.” The Club is weighing options on placing furnaces on the rooftop of the structure in order to avoid a repeat of the current problems. Until all those options are decided, total damage amount is in the air. “It’s hard to say right now just what it’s going to cost,” said Treber. “The insurance adjustor hasn’t given us any final numbers.” It was also unclear when the club would be back home. “Right now, if everything goes well we hope we can be back in the building by Feb. 4,” said Treber.
