By Rusty Nixon Correspondent PLYMOUTH — The worst of the snow is over for some street crews, while others have a few more interesting hours waiting for Mother Nature. “The fact that it’s stopped has really helped us,” said Plymouth Street Superinten-dent Jim Marquardt. “We’ll spend the day re-scraping and trying to widen everything up.” Meanwhile county road crews were watching the wind. “Right now we’re a little more concerned with the blowing,” said County Highway Superintendent Neal Haeck. “We could run into some drifting problems if it keeps up. It’s supposed to be 50 degrees in a couple of days and that will be great — but until then it’s just a good old Indiana winter.” Local crews hit the streets about 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and worked to keep roads and highways clear for motorists. Marquardt has had crews on the roads since. “We’ve been running a little smaller crew at night,” he said. “It hasn’t been too bad since it stopped snowing.” In spite of the amount of snow the clean up has been very uneventful. “We’ve had to bring some trucks in today, to dry up the air system,” said Haeck. “That happens sometimes that the air system gets wet and then it affects the brakes and you have to bring them in and dry it out. “The last heavy snow we had we had a bunch of limbs and things down but we haven’t had any of that this time.”
