By Michelle Donaghey Correspondent BREMEN — The renovation project at Bremen Public Schools is moving right along, according to Construction Administrator Bernie Leazier of Barton, Coe Vilamaa Architects and Engineers of Ft. Wayne. In the high school area, the demolition of hallway ceilings has started to make room for fire sprinkler installation. The remaining east hallway ceilings will be removed over Christmas break so that new mechanical and electrical work for the classroom renovation can begin. “We currently have completed painting, floors and ceiling grid in the new science room addition,” he said of the new east side wing. “We’ll be finishing the ceiling tile installation next week for the science casework installation which will be starting on November 19.”
He noted that the science and ag classrooms will be ready for classes when students return from Christmas break. Renovations of the old science rooms will begin shortly thereafter in January. The new media center roof and siding have been completed as well as the auditorium roof as well as the multi-purpose room roof and ductwork. The overhead rough-in has begun as well. On the south side of the high school, the bar joist and deck for new classrooms has been completed and is now ready for roofing. “The bricklayer is now starting the work on that addition,” he noted. All site concrete has been completed as well. In the elementary-middle school, two classrooms in the K-8 have been completed and have been turned over to the school. The demolition of the last classroom has also been started. The new boiler room has been started up and the renovation of the pool was completed with classes returning to pool use Oct. 1.
