3 Thanksgiving feasts offered to residents E-mail
Friday, 16 November 2007
Three separate community Thanksgiving dinners are being held this year in Starke County.
For the 13th year, the churches of North Judson, San Pierre, Denham and English Lake will host a Community Thanksgiving dinner, Sunday, Nov. 18, at the United Methodist Fellowship Hall at 210 W. Central Ave. in North Judson. The dinner will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
This dinner is free of charge to all senior citizens of this area, persons who will be alone for the holiday, and families unable to provide a Thanksgiving meal for themselves and their family.
Area churches are participating with the serving of this traditional meal of turkey and all the trimmings.
The annual event is sponsored by St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, where it is normally held. Because of construction at St. Peter’s, the dinner was moved to the Methodist church.
In Knox, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church is hosting a Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, Nov. 22, Thanksgiving Day, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 1600 S. Heaton St. in Knox.
A Thanksgiving worship service will precede the dinner at 10 a.m.
This is a free meal for the needy, those who are alone and have no family to share in a Thanksgiving meal, the homeless, the elderly or shut-ins. Church members will deliver to those who are shut-in for the holiday. The church members will be serving turkey with all the trimmings.
Tickets are available at the church office at 574-772-4186, Starke Memorial Hospital, Community Services of Starke County 574-772-7070, Love in the Name of Christ at
574-772-5683 or CES America at 574-772-0200.
Also in Knox, a free Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held Sunday, Nov. 18 at 5 p.m. at Knox United Methodist Church, 201 S. Shield St., Knox. All are welcome. RSVP at 772.4228 if you would like to attend.
